In order to clarify the intellectual property rights (i) granted to You to permit the translation of certain documents identified by Sun Microsystems, Inc. (“Sun”) and part of a project owned or managed by Sun (“Project”) and (ii) granted by You for contributions of translated documentation to a Project, Sun needs to receive a copy of this Translation License and Translation Contributor Agreement (Agreement) signed by You to indicate Your acceptance of the terms below.

Please print out this page onto paper and fill it in. Supply the contact information requested and read this Agreement carefully before signing. Send a signed copy of this Agreement back to Sun either by fax (1-408-516-9344) or by scanning and emailing to Translation_License@sun.com. Retain the signed original Agreement for Your records.

Your Contact Information:

1. “Contribution” means any translation created by You of Sun copyrighted material, such as specifications, documentation, source code, graphics, e-mail, or forum postings, as part of a Project and exercising the license granted to You in paragraph 2.
2. You may use, modify, and create derivative works of the documentation provided to You as part of a Project for the sole purpose of translating the documentation into its non-English language equivalent.
3. Effective at the time of development of the Contribution, You hereby assign to Sun ownership in all worldwide common law and statutory rights associated with the copyrights, copyright applications and copyright registrations in Your Contribution, and to the extent allowable under applicable local laws and copyright conventions, you agree never to assert against Sun or its licensees or transferees any “moral rights” therein. You understand that (i) this Agreement may be submitted by Sun to register a copyright in Your Contribution, and (ii) Sun may exercise all rights as a copyright owner of Your Contribution, including enforcement against infringers.
4. You represent that Your Contribution is an original work and that You are legally entitled to grant the rights and privileges conveyed by this Agreement. You warrant that Your Contribution, to the best of Your knowledge, does not violate any other party's copyrights, trademarks, patents or other intellectual property rights. If this Agreement is being submitted on behalf of a company it must be signed by a duly authorized representative.
5. If the Project involves translating a Java Specification into its non-English equivalent, in addition to the license granted above, You may use the Java Specification, including Your Contributions, under the terms of the Java Specification License associated with that Java Specification only. Unless otherwise permitted by the Java Specification License, You may not redistribute or publish, in whole or in part, Contributions, Specification, or their translated equivalents. No licenses are granted to You for any other purposes.
6. This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of California and applicable U.S. Federal law, without application of choice of law rules.
